Is Your Basic Service Really Free?
ABSOLUTELY! A primary goal of ExpressWebz is to make the web more accessible to home/small-business startups. We realise that cash and time is limited in the early days, and we also feel strongly that small businesses NEED a web presence in this day and age. So a free web service seemed an ideal way of doing our bit.
You ARE a Business, Right?
Definitely - though we like to think we're a bit (make that a LOT) different from the rest of the crowd. The free service is intended to be of use and benefit in the early days, and also provides a clear and easy path via which your online presence can grow with your business (unlike other free or advertising-supported web site services). So yes, we DO have things you can buy from us, though prefer to leave that until such time that you actually need them, rather than trying to make a quick buck before we even really know each other. That's how WE do business.
I'm Not a Techie Geek - Will I Really Be Able To Use This?
ExpressWebz was designed to be simple, without sacrificing certain features that would be useful to web developers. If you can type a letter in a Word Processor, you can manage your web site content. If you DO have some techie experience, you can still get into the underlying HTML and tweak things to your heart's content.
Talking of simplicity - you'll find our web site management "back office" a little different from other software you may have used. We stripped it down to focus on the job in hand; no bloat, no crazy feature overload and no over-engineered eye candy to get in your way (honestly, that stuff gets annoying after a few uses). Instead you will find a focused, honest system that simply lets you get the job done.
How Can I Include Images In My Web Content?
Bronze Account holders will need to store images and documents on an external service such as ImageShack and then use references to those files from within their ExpressWebz pages. Silver and Gold Account holders can upload this type of content to the ExpressWebz servers. These files can then be references within the content, with the advantage of all the content being in one place.
Do You Have Any Bandwidth Limits?
Not as such - we have a "common sense" approach to the issue of "acceptable use". While your web site will be subject to our usual hosting Terms and Conditions, we take the view that restricting bandwidth is artificial and generally used to stimulate upgrade sales etc. We do expect all web site owners to show restraint and respect for other users of the service - for example if you want to operate an online gaming site then this service really isn't appropriate for your needs (talk to us about other available options)
It is a sad fact that there will always be someone who will abuse these things; rest assured that resource hogs WILL be investigated, warned and (if necessary) shut down for the benefit of those who DO get it.
